Timothée Chalamet himself appeared at a Timothée Chalamet impersonator contest in Washington Square Park in New York City on Sunday afternoon, posing for photographs with surprised doppelgängers and fans who had gathered to watch the competition.
In the contest, which was promoted through street flyers and on social media in recent weeks, several Chalamet lookalikes competed for a grand prize of $50. The real-life Chalamet appeared about 30 minutes into the competition, initially sneaking into the crowd hiding his face with a mask and baseball cap.
The NYPD eventually broke up the fun, dispersed the crowd, and issued a $500 fine to the event organizers for failing to obtain a permit for the event. One of the contestants was also detained by the police. Despite the interruption, a Staten Island college student named Miles Mitchell was crowned the winner.
The real-life Chalamet will soon be seen on screen in the Bob Dylan biopic, A complete strangerwhich will be released in theaters on December 25, 2024.
