Tom Morello's renowned talent as a guitarist clearly runs in the family.
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist is currently on tour in Europe, and he brought his 13-year-old son Roman with him. The two have been opening for Tom with his co-written new song “Soldier in the Army of Love,” and Tom recently took to social media to share a couple clips from their performances, including one from July 8 at the Villafranca Festival in Verona, Italy.
“Oh my God. My 13-year-old son Roman Morello is speeding through Europe,” Tom wrote in one post.
In fact, Roman does a super-fast guitar solo on his Telecaster and becomes the center of attention while the rest of the band falls silent. Tom starts to encourage his son, gesturing for him to take the lead and giving him the spotlight.
Tom and Roman released “Soldier in the Army of Love” late last month. Billed as the first track from “Tom’s first solo rock album,” the song’s core riffs were written by Roman, while Tom handled the lyrics and vocals.
The Morellos had already made headlines when they collaborated on a climate change anthem with another young rocker, Nandi Bushell, who also appeared on stage alongside Tom on his current festival circuit.
Roman, 12, also joined Jack Black for a cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley” to celebrate the 100th birthday of Roman’s grandmother and Tom’s mother, Mary.
Below you can see clips of Roman Morello dancing with his father.
