The Internet nearly exploded last September when Taylor Swift attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game, unofficially confirming her then-rumored romance with Travis Kelce. And although the couple later explained that they had been dating for weeks before that first public outing, the tight end revealed that the pop star's first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium was still a major turning point in their behind-the-scenes relationship.
“The first game he came in against the Bears, I was like, 'I could probably hit you with anything,'” Kelce recalled in a Bussin' With the Boys The podcast episode was posted on Tuesday (June 25). “And he just walked through the front door. There was no way I could go down, talk to security… He was like, 'I want to be around family and friends and experience this with everyone.'
“She got grooming points for that,” he continued. “I was like, 'D–n, he's crazy. He wants to be part of it, he wants to support me.' He really won me over with that.”
“That's why I really fell in love with her — how genuine she is with friends, family,” Kelce added. “It can get crazy for someone with that much attention, and he keeps it so relaxed.”
Swift would continue to support the Ohio native in games through the 2023-24 season, leading up to the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory in February. Kelce is now returning the favor by attending the “Anti-Hero” singer's Eras tour across Europe, most recently making an adorable appearance on stage at her London show over the weekend.
“I love the show, man – it's got swag,” o New Heights The host gushed on the podcast before naming his three favorite Swift songs: “Blank Space,” “Cruel Summer” and “So High School,” which he proudly claimed as inspiration.
“It has a little bit of an emotional meaning to it,” he said of the latest track, which appears on Swift's Billboard 200 Department of Tormented Poets. “You know how to play ball, I know Aristotle,” man.
Before getting off the topic of his superstar girlfriend, Kelce also explained why he chooses to be so open about his and Swift's love story. “You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I'm not here to hide anything,” he said. “That's my girl. That's my lady. I'm proud of that. I'm not sitting here trying to juggle, 'How can I keep this under wraps?'
