Cinematic visual for the Days before the Rodeo favorite features subtle homage to Virgil Abloh
Days after revisit his mixtape Days before the Rodeo on its 10th anniversary, Travis Scott delivers a visual for the project's single, “Drugs You Should Try It.”
The clip opens with what appears to be an homage to Virgil Abloh as a bodybuilding model poses in front of a smoking cowboy neon sign that he used on his Rodeo tour in 2015. (“He's with us forever, you dig?” she said during a special anniversary concert weekend, per Bulletin board.)
The video then displays a warning sign saying, “Play this song at maximum volume for best effect,” along with Days before the Rodeohis track list. The video shows cinematic, slo-mo clips of Scott jumping shirtless under the night sky. Other footage sees him smoking a joint, before rapping the lyrics under a red light and drowning in cold water.
Scott has re-released his second mixtape Days before the Rodeo on Aug. 23, bringing the body of work from 2014 — which included songs like “Don't Play” with 1975, “Mamacita” with Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug, and “Sloppy Toppy” with Migos and Peewee Longway — on streaming services.
“Days before the Rodeo The 10-year anniversary is celebrated with a re-release at last,” he wrote on Instagram last week. “Everywhere August 23rd and maybe a couple DBR songs from that era from the vault…I jump through walls ahhh.”
He also released the promised deluxe edition of the record with new songs on his website. The deluxe LP features the songs “Mo City Flexologist,” “Serenade,” “While Lots Changedm” and “Yeah Yeah” featuring Young Thug. The mixtape went on to define Scott's career Rodeo LP from 2015.
