Travis Scott says he spent Friday on the asphalt instead of on stage.
The rapper was set to bring his Utopia – Circus Maximus tour to Chicago's United Center on December 15. Post a statement in Xformerly known as Twitter, to explain why he couldn't make it to the show.
“I literally spent 24 hours on the runway,” Scott wrote Saturday afternoon. “Craziest shit ever.”
He also gave an update to fans who had tickets to Friday night's show: “To my people in Chicago I was so ready to go crazy. Chicago has always been one of my favorite places. To go and I've been waiting for it the whole tour. I will be back in the first two days of January.”
In one Instagram Stories, he added, “Have you ever spent 24 hours in a hallway that I have. F— this mess.”
The United Center's official X account also announced the cancellation to concertgoers on Friday, writing: “Travis Scott's performance at the United Center scheduled for tonight has been postponed. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be posted here and emailed directly to ticket holders when available.”
Scott is set to bring his show to Brooklyn's Barclays Center next for a pair of shows on December 18-19.
His latest album, Utopiaspent four weeks atop the Billboard 200 this year, making it his own third No. 1 on the chart. In November, Utopia track “I know?” reached No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart.
