Its flagship streaming platform, FilmStruck, was a casualty of AT&T's acquisition of TCM parent company WarnerMedia in 2018, and the brand's presence on Max has only become more confusing following the Warner Bros Discovery merger. Such tribulations, as well as the 2023 layoffs, alarmed fans and filmmakers alike, prompting Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and Paul Thomas Anderson to intervene with an emergency meeting.
Fandango en Casa, for its part, is also in flux. Originally known as Vudu, the streaming service changed its name in February, ending Vudu's two-decade run.
