VIA PRESS RELEASE | Multi-GRAMMY Award winning virtuoso bassist and vocalist Thundercat will release a very special deluxe edition of his album Revelation on March 1st celebrating ten years since its original release in 2013.
Filled with gems including the certified classics “Heartbreaks + Setbacks”, “Lotus and the Jondy”, “Tron Son” and the complete cosmic funk bullet “Oh Sheit, It's X”, Thundercat brings a fusion of pop, soul, electronica , prog rock and funk in an unexplored dimension with his signature bass lines sliding up to meet the stellar touch of Executive Producer Flying Lotus.
Following its release in 2013, Rake praised the record's “endearing blend of simple indifference and almost limitless musical eccentricity” and gave it a score of 8.2. The LA Weekly equally impressed: “Thundercat's Revelation… it takes its name from the end of days, but is more like a new beginning.” In the meantime, Complex declared it “the best album of the year … a sparkling collection of heavenly funk”.
2023 has been a whirlwind year for Thundercat. Tour highlights included Glastonbury, two sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House, more stadium gigs with rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers and his own North American show with a show at the iconic Red Rocks amphitheater and an outstanding hometown concert at The Greek Theater in LA with special guests Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, Steve Lacy, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Suicidal Tendencies and more.
He started the year performing with Lacy on the Grammy telecast and followed that up in April with the release of “No More Lies” with Kevin Parker, which received praise from Rake, Rolling rock (No. 66 on Top 100 Songs of the Year: “a beautifully hazy track”) and The guardian among many others, and was the BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record. On top of all that, he collaborated with Gorillaz on their album Cracker Islandwho appeared on the stellar title track, starred in the official video and performed with the band at Coachella and the MTV European Music Awards.
Thundercat will return to tour Europe in spring 2024. The UK leg takes in Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Wolverhampton and culminates with a special 4-night residency at KOKO in London.
