Tyler, the Creator scores his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 as his new studio effort, Chromatographa, reaches the top of the tally (dated November 9). The set starts with 299,500 equivalent album units earned in the US. in the week ended Oct. 31 — its best week in terms of units. Its initial total — the sixth-biggest debut of 2024 — is also notable because the album arrived on an off-cycle Monday (October 28) and thus had only four days of activity in its first week of chart tracking. (Most albums are released on Fridays, giving them seven full days of activity in the chart's opening week.)
The album was announced on October 17th, just over 10 days before its October 28th release.
Chromatographa also claimed by Tyler, Creator's biggest streaming week for an album and biggest sales week ever — again, after just four days of availability. Streams and sales were so strong for the set, it would have been No. 1 just off streaming or sales alone.
He previously reached No.1 on the chart with his last two releases, Call me if you get lost (in 2021) and Igor (in 2019). Overall, Chromatographa marks his seventh set of top 10s on the Billboard 200 — his entire charting effort.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US based on polymetric consumption, as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track album equivalents (TEA) and streaming album equivalents (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 official paid/subscription audio and video streams generated from songs from an album. The new chart dated November 9, 2024 will be published in full on Bulletin boardon the user's website on Tuesday, November 5. Vinyl sales accounted for 66,000 of the album's first-week number, which is Tyler, Creator's best week ever on vinyl, and the third-biggest vinyl debut week for a rap album since Luminate began tracking the charts. sales in 1991.
Chromatographa released as a standard 11-song digital download album, a 14-song album on CD and vinyl, and a 14-song streaming digital deluxe album. (The two 14-song versions had three additional songs each over the standard 11-song album. The 14-song CD and vinyl added “Mother,” “Sticky” (featuring Sexyy Red and Lil Wayne), and “Thought I Was Dead” (featuring Santigold, the digital and continuous 14-song version added “Balloon” (featuring Doechii), “Sticky” (featuring GloRilla, Lil Wayne and Sexyy Red) and “Thought I Was Dead” (with ScHoolboy Q and Santigold).
album sales were boosted by the set's availability in six deluxe collector's CD box sets (each containing a CD, poster and other branded merchandise) and a green vinyl pressing. Box sets and vinyl were sold exclusively through the artist's official online store. A standalone CD was available for pre-order, exclusively, at the same store, but has not yet shipped to customers. All physical versions of the album are only available through the artist's online store.
The standard 11-song digital download album, as well as the 14-song deluxe digital edition, were widely available through the iTunes Store and similar services (but not sold on the artist's webstore).
At No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Halsey's The Great Imitator debuts with 93,000 equivalent album units. Of that amount, album sales make up 81,000, SEA units make up 12,000 (equivalent to 16.05 million on-demand streams of the songs on the album's stream), and TEA units make up a negligible amount. The Great Imitator is the fifth set of top 10 chart hits for Halsey, who has debuted in the top two spots on the chart.
The album's first-week sales were aided by its availability in several permutations: a dozen deluxe collector's CD sets (each containing one CD and branded merchandise), one standard CD, one standard signed CD, four alternate cover CDs (each signed ) and eight vinyl variants (including a signed version). Most of the offerings were sold exclusively on Halsey's official online store. The album was also released as a standard digital album and via seven alternative digital download albums (each with one to three exclusive bonus tracks unique to each of the seven editions) — which sold for a discounted $4.99.
Vinyl sales totaled just over 26,000 copies — Halsey's best week on vinyl ever.
Sabrina Carpenter's former boss Short n' Sweet falls 2-3 on the new Billboard 200 with 74,000 equivalent album units gained (down 5%).
Kelsea Ballerini's Patterns bows at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, marking the highest-charting album of all time and second set of top 10s. It comes in at 54,000 equivalent album units earned — her best week by units. Of that amount, album sales make up 35,000 (her second biggest sales week), SEA units comprise 19,000, and TEA units make up a negligible amount.
Ballarini previously reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with No apologies in 2017.
The new album was preceded by the song “Cowboys Cry Too,” featuring Noah Kahan, which reached the top 20 on the Hot Country Songs chart in July.
The set's first week sales were boosted by its availability on eight vinyl variants (including a signed edition), three digital download editions (one standard set, one with bonus commentary and one with two bonus track tracks) and two CDs (including one signed variant). Her vinyl sales totaled 12,000 for the week – Ballerini's best week ever on vinyl.
Rod Wave's Last Round dips 4-5 on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 equivalent album units gained (down 24%), while Eminem's The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) jumps 44-6 with 49,000 units (up 193%) following its release on vinyl and cassette. The latter was released on five vinyl editions (mostly color variants) which combined to sell 31,000 copies in its tracking week – Eminem's best week ever on vinyl.
