U2 will perform from the Sphere in Las Vegas at the 2024 Grammy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The segment will also include a special awards presentation.
The news was released today on U2's social media channel, completing the record-setting run of U2's acclaimed “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere.”
This is the first show to be broadcast from the Sphere, a first-of-its-kind venue that has garnered global headlines. The Grammys were held in Las Vegas two years ago at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Advertising signKatie Atkinson reviews U2's opening show at the Sphere on 29th September. Her main complement: “U2 were just the right band to welcome the impressive venue.”
Expanding on this thought, Atkinson wrote: “You might think that all the technological bells and whistles could overshadow the show, but U2's music and message always remained the focus throughout the two-hour set. … In the end, Sphere never overshadows U2. Sphere magnifies U2, combining a band that has tried to innovate with each new tour during their 40-year career with a venue that seemingly has no limits to innovation.”
U2 have collected 22 Grammys during their career, including two awards in each of the top three categories – album, record and song of the year.
Previously announced Grammy Awards artists include Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Travis Scott. Three of the first eight acts announced for the show are previous album of the year winners – U2, Joel and Eilish.
Additional performers for the Grammy telecast will be announced.
Trevor Noah will host the Grammys for the fourth consecutive year. He is also nominated for a Grammy. It is nominated for Best Comedy album I wish you could. He is the first Grammy host to be nominated for a Grammy in the same year since Queen Latifah in 2005.
