As electric as UsherThe 2024 Super Bowl halftime show was, fans couldn't help but be a little upset that the rumored Justin Bieber The reunion did not take place on Sunday (February 11) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
But in a recent interview, the 45-year-old superstar revealed that he did indeed ask Bieber to join him during the show – before explaining why an appearance from his one-time protégé wasn't on the cards. “It didn't work out with Justin,” Usher told iHeartRadio's Breakfast Club on Friday (February 16). “I respect and recognize that my brother, I think it might have been the fact that he just wants to tell a different story right now. And I understand that.”
“But we had a short chat,” the “Yes!” said the singer. “We will do something else in the future. No love lost or anything like that. It's obviously a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl.”
Usher also predicted that, in a few years, the “Peaches” musician will be headlining the big game. “He deserves it,” she said.
Although Bieber didn't accompany Usher on stage at the Super Bowl, he did watch from the stands at Allegiant along with Hailey Bieber. The “My Boo” artist was not without company during his performance either. Ludacris, Lil Jon, will.i.am and Alicia Keys performed throughout the show.
Bieber then made sure to congratulate Usher on Instagram. “I LOVE YOU MY BROTHER,” she wrote. “NO ONE CAN SING AND DANCE LIKE YOU. I LOVE YOU FROM THE DEPTH OF MY HEART.”
