Violent Femmes have announced a North American tour for spring 2024 that will see the folk-punk legends perform their first two full albums at each stop.
Last year, the Femmes played their classic 1983 self-titled debut LP in its entirety on a 40th anniversary tour. This year, they're doubling up on the fun. The shows will begin with a full performance from 1984. hollow ground in celebration of its 40th anniversary, followed by a brief intermission. The band will then play the self-titled work again in its entirety, followed by some of their favorites from other albums.
The tour begins May 1 in San Francisco and ends May 18 in Detroit. An artist pre-sale begins Wednesday (March 13) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code ADD HIMwhile a Live Nation Presale starts Thursday (March 14) at 10 a.m. local time with code KEY, followed by a general sale beginning on Friday (March 15). Fans can also search for deals or get tickets for sold-out dates through StubHubwhere your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub's Fan Protect program.
As a press release notes, frontman Gordon Gano wrote the songs that ended up on both the debut LP and hollow ground while in high school, adding, “In fact, the tracks of hollow ground were written long before the release of violent women, but the band wanted to focus on upbeat songs for the debut album and wanted to “confuse people” with the more experimental songs that ended up as hollow ground.”
