It's October 4, 2023 and I'm excited to see it Mercenary warfare aAll three opening bands at The Dome at Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Ct. I've been looking forward to this show for a while and I have to say it was one of the best concerts I've been to in a while. All the bands had the crowd going crazy and the energy in the room was explosive!!
The first on the scene is my favorite, Fame on Firewho are an American rock band from Palm Beach, Florida. I first saw these guys at Shiprocked 23 and was excited to see them once again. They did not disappoint. Fame on Fire are known for their unique blend of rock, metal and alternative music. Formed in 2013, the group originally started out as a cover band, but quickly began writing their own music, gaining attention for their energetic sound and passionate performances.
Fame on Fire has a dynamic groove that combines heavy guitar riffs with catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. The band gained a lot of popularity through their interesting approach to covers, reworking songs from various genres in a rock style. Fame on Fire performed their own covers of popular hits such as Imagine Dragons' “Bad Liar” and Justin Bieber's “Sorry.”

In 2020, the band released their debut EP, Fame on Firewhich features original tracks that really showcase their diverse musical range. Songs such as “I'm Not the One” and “The Dark” have received quite positive feedback from fans and critics, establishing Fame on Fire as a rising force in the rock scene. The band members are Bryan Kuznitz (vocals), Blake Saul (guitar), Paul Spirou (bass) and Alex Roman (drums).
Next on the scene is ERRAa progressive metalcore band hailing from Birmingham, Alabama. Wow!, these guys were heavy and tight! ERRA was formed in 2009 and the band has released several EPs and studio albums throughout their career. The name 'Erra' comes from the Akkadian deity of chaos and destruction. These guys are known for their intricate guitar work, powerful vocals and thought provoking lyrics.

One of their standout tracks, “Seven”, appeared on the album Pushexplores themes and narratives inspired by the legends of Herra. These guys were bold and intense. Crowd surfing definitely started with this band. Band members are Jesse Cash (guitar), JT Cavey (vocals), Conor Hesse (bass), Clint Tustin (guitar) and Alex Ballew (drums)
Another one of my favorites is thrown away who came next The power of this band was fanatical. The crowd went wild in the mosh pit and heavy crowd surfing ensued. These guys had a good stage presence and got the crowd going with their smashing lyrics and killer riffs. Thrown is a Swedish rock band that has taken the music scene by storm with their captivating sound and energetic performances. Formed in 2019, the band quickly gained attention for their unique blend of alternative rock and metalcore, appealing to fans of various genres.

The lineup features talented musicians who bring their own influences and styles to the group's overall sound. The band's music is characterized by lively guitar riffs, strong melodies and powerful vocals. The Thrown worked hard to establish their presence in the rock's inner sanctum. They have released several singles that showcase their talent and creativity, gaining traction on streaming platforms and social media.
Their performances are full of energy and passion, engaging the audience and creating an unforgettable experience. The band's commitment to connecting with their fans during live performances has helped them build a very loyal audience, I know I was very impressed with the band and will definitely be seeing them again. Thrown consists of Marcus Lundqvist (vocals), Johan Liljeblad (guitar), Andreas Malm (guitar) and Buster Odeholm (drums).
And finally Wage war comes out on stage. The lights are low and it's smoke. Lundqvist starts singing “THE SHOWS ABOUT TO START”. The rest of the band enters in such an explosive manner that it completely engaged the audience. What a way to start a show! These guys killed it. Heavy, melodic, fun and powerful. I love this band!!! Halfway through they played my favorite, “Circle The Drain” and the crowd went crazy. The crowd surfing was intense as was the moshing. And they closed the set with another one of my favorites, “Manic”. This was definitely the best way to spend my birthday!!!
