“Basically what happened is Chris emailed me last December saying he was doing a documentary about cognitive health and the benefits of learning an instrument,” Sheeran explained backstage in a video posted to Instagram. “He came to visit me and has learned the drums. Hemsworth added of the assignment: “I think about this a lot. It will be nice to put it to bed.'
The actor then quietly joined the singer on stage for “Thinking Out Loud,” with Sheeran not revealing his famous drummer to the crowd until the end of the show:
Backstage, Sheeran told Hemsworth, “You did really, really well,” and gave him an “Participation Award” to remember the moment.
Hemsworth has long been a super fan, friend and self-proclaimed “stalker” of Sheeran, attending some of his concerts in recent years. Sheeran, in turn, attended Hemsworth's premiere Export 2.
