The song marks Halle's first solo single since her debut with “Angel” last August
Halle Bailey is back with her second solo single, the chunky, emotional 'In Your Hands', which she's accompanied with a music video featuring her one-month-old son Halo.
“In Your Hands” comes more than seven months after Halle released her debut solo single “Angel” last August and follows her starring role on last year's Little Mermaid live action adaptation and her supporting role as Nettie Harris in Last November's The Color Purple.
Ahead of the song's release, Halle opened up about the song on Instagram on Thursday, saying it was both about romantic love for a partner as well as the motherly love she has for her son, who was born in early January. She originally planned “In Your Hands” to be an interlude on her upcoming album, but said those around her who heard the track encouraged her to make it a full song.
“What's beautiful about this song is that the hook is based on being in love, being in a relationship and knowing that your future with that person is beautiful and also knowing your worth,” Hallie said. “But also the beautiful thing, the lyrics I wrote, I wrote them when I was pregnant. The lyrics are almost Halo, I felt like I was singing to him about how I will always be here for him and my journey as his mother. it made me really, really happy.”
Halle is seen holding Halo's hand at the beginning of the video and lovingly rocking him in her arms at the end of the video.
Bailey, best known as one half of R&B duo Chloë x Halle, has been teasing a full-length project for the past few months. He said last September that a solo EP would be coming by the end of the year, though fans are still waiting for that project to materialize.
