The country star also sang Otis Redding's “Sittin' On (The Dock of the Bay).”
Jelly Roll continued The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM for the first time this week to talk about his life and career, sing his new song “I Am Not Okay” and perform two covers: “(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding and Hootie and the Blowfish's “Let Her Cry.”
“I've always loved the covers,” Jelly said on Stern's show on Wednesday. “People come here and do cool covers. What do you guys think, should we do this?'
Jellie spoke to Stern about his notoriously troubled past and the times he's been arrested and jailed on drug charges. “I was the worst criminal ever,” Jelly joked when Stern asked about getting caught so many times. “My success rate at running from the police was zero out of 20.”
In addition to the covers, Jelly performed two of his own songs: his latest single “I Am Not Okay” and his biggest hit, “Need a Favor.”
Jelly Roll's had a busy year so far to build on his 2023 start. In addition to releasing “I Am Not Okay” earlier this week — his first new music since last year Whitsitt Chapel – did a live duet with the Kelly machine gun last weekend at CMA Fest and came out to surprise Eminem in Detroit to perform “Sing for the Moment.”
“When I think about the coolest moments of my career, right now at the top, I got to sing with Eminem in Detroit,” he said. he said Entertainment Tonight. “What an incredible night, and I have to go do it in Detroit. It was unreal.”
