Kathryn Hahn filled in for Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, and to celebrate the announcement of her new Marvel series Agatha All Along, she treated viewers to a crash course of everything that’s gone down in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
All in a three-and-a-half minute tune, Hahn sings through the whole saga, from Iron Man to now. She’s accompanied by a piano and a small choir, who echo each of Hahn’s concluding verses (“Groot’s incomprehensible, and Thanos diabolical/ And he had a chin that looked like giant purple testicles,” goes one line). She races her way through to Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, landing on Tony Stark’s death (“Iron Man he went and died/ Which made a bunch of virgins cry,” sang the choir).
Then, Hahn shifted gears to run through the newest iteration of the MCU — from She-Hulk teaching us “how to twerk” to Martin Freeman being “Black Panther’s white friend,” from Scarlet Witch “going berserk” to “somewhere there are three Spider Men.” She concluded the song with a reference to her own character, Agatha Harkness, who was debuted in WandaVision and will now receive her own limited series landing on Disney+ on September 18th. Watch her rendition below.
The trailer for Agatha All Along dropped this week, and it stars Hahn reprising her role as Agatha as well as Aubrey Plaza. In addition to the new WandaVision spinoff, Marvel’s got a lighter slate than usual — January saw the release of Echo on Disney+, and Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26th. Still, the studio has some significant plans for the future, including a new Avengers film that could feature over 60 characters.
