The rock band showcased their Talking Heads cover for the first time live on the Eras Tour
Paramore opened for Taylor Swift last night at Paris’ La Défense Arena and took the opportunity to showcase their cover of Talking Heads‘ “Burning Down the House” for the first time live.
The rock band, who are supporting Swift on the European, U.K., and Ireland leg of her Eras Tour, performed a nine-song set and included their recent rendition of Talking Heads’ 1983 single. The cover will appear on an upcoming tribute album, Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, released to celebrate concert film Stop Making Sense. It was also recently released as part of a limited edition 12″ vinyl for Record Store Day 2024, with David Byrne covering Paramore’s “Hard Times” on the A-side.
Paramore’s set also included several of their own songs, including “Still Into You,” “Caught In The Middle,” and “Brick By Boring Brick.” The band, led by Hayley Williams, previously opened for Swift at select North American dates last year.
This year marks a literal new era for Paramore, who completed their 20-year recording contract with Atlantic Records, which Williams signed as a technical solo artist when she was around 14 or 15 years old, late last year. Their most recent LP, This Is Why, won a historic Grammy as the first-ever female-fronted act to take home Best Rock Album.
Last year, A24 released a restoration of Talking Heads’ 1984 pivotal concert film Stop Making Sense and later announced that it would roll out a tribute record featuring 16 artists performing songs from the band’s setlist of their live album. Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense also features Lorde, Miley Cyrus, and the National.
