The country superstar played all the hits at the UK festival, including a rousing version of her 1999 radio hit
Shania Twain scored plenty of hits when she made her debut at the U.K.'s Glastonbury festival on Sunday, opening with “That Don't Imprest Me Much” and breaking through staples like “I'm Gonna Getcha Good!”, “Any Man mine” and “My love, I'm home”. He saved the most euphoric single for last, closing the slot of the day with “Man! I feel like a woman!”.
“Let's go, Glastonbury!” Twain shouted as the signature opening of the 1999 radio hit played. Dressed in a black miniskirt and boots, the singer performed the Come over single on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in the so-called “legend's slot”, an afternoon show that has previously featured icons such as Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Kylie Minogue. Video of Twain's set captured the massive crowds, many of them dressed in Twain-themed attire or cowboy hats, stretching out to the outskirts of Michael Eavis' Worthy Farm.
Twain, who started a new residence, Come over, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in May, recently made an addition to her band, recruiting Lindsay Ell as one of her lead guitarists. Ell, who has released a string of country albums as a solo artist, has become a highlight of Twain's new concerts and, at Glastonbury, opted for a rousing solo on 'Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, tossing around her dyed-purple locks.
With Glastonbury now over (among his highlights this year was a guitar stint from Michael J. Fox during Coldplay's headline set), Twain will remain in the UK for a string of gigs. He'll play London's Hyde Park on July 7, three days after another country star — Morgan Wallen — headlines the outdoor venue.
