Snoop Dogg brought a little bit of silliness to the otherwise no-nonsense Olympic Games over the weekend, starting an impromptu dance party with the Team USA gymnasts right in the middle of competition.
In a newly shared video from the women’s gymnastics qualification Sunday (July 28), Simone Biles points at a mystery person in the stands before suddenly busting a move with teammate Jordan Chiles. As the NBC announcers try to make sense of why the two athletes randomly started grooving while on the competition floor, the camera pans up to the audience, revealing that Snoop had gotten their attention from his seat and started a dance party through the power of good vibes alone.
“Does anybody have more fun than Snoop?” one of the announcers asks as the Doggfather sways and waves his arms in the air.
At the qualification, Snoop also showed his support for the team by wearing a T-shirt with Biles’ face on it, at one point looking aghast as she completed an impossibly difficult vault pass. The day ended with the gold medalist and her teammate Suni Lee finishing first and second in the all-around, respectively, with Team USA earning a collective 172.296 points and advancing to the finals on Tuesday (July 30).
Snoop will be on site in Paris for the next two weeks to see all of the U.S. athletes through the end of the Games, serving as one of NBC’s correspondents. On the day of the event’s Opening Ceremony, he participated in the torch relay‘s final leg before giving on-air commentary during the parade of nations on the Seine Friday (July 26).
