Ween has announced that it will cease touring “for the foreseeable future” due to Michael “Dean Ween” Melchiondo's ongoing mental health issues. Affected dates include the special Chocolate and cheese anniversary show in Philadelphia that was scheduled for September 27.
“It is with sincere regret and great sadness that Ween must make the decision to step away from the stage for the near future,” reads a Statement on social media“Despite three great shows this summer, it has become clear that touring and concerts are too demanding on Deaner’s mental health to continue.”
Earlier this year, the group canceled the spring dates of their 40th anniversary tour and shortened their summer tour. In March, Dean Ween shared a statement that read, “I need to stop performing live in order to preserve my mental and spiritual well-being, and instead focus on myself and my loved ones.”
Ween previously took an indefinite hiatus from 2011 until their reunion in 2016. Earlier this month, they released a 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of Chocolate and cheese. Pick up your copy here.
