Two new ones Whitney Houston Projects coming soon — both turning 30u anniversary of the Grammy Award winner's three concerts in South Africa in 1994. Arriving first: the limited worldwide theatrical release of Whitney Houston – The Concert for a New South Africa (Durban) scheduled for October 23 and 27. Coming November 8: an accompanying live album, The Concert for a New South Africa (Durban), featuring the unreleased track “Love Is”.
Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Entertainment, in association with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston, The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and Primary Wave Music, are leading the release of the completely revamped concert film. It will be shown in nearly 900 cinemas in more than 25 countries on October 23rd and 27th. Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, is releasing the live album.
In a statement announcing the news, Trafalgar Releasing CEO Mark Allenby said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Sony Music and bring Whitney Houston's legendary never-before-seen concert to audiences around the world. The message of hope and unity from the Durban, South Africa show is still as relevant today as it was 30 years ago, and fans will be thrilled by how powerful it is on the big screen.”

The works come from a trio of shows in Houston in South Africa in November 1994, which made her one of the first major US stars to play the post-apartheid nation after Nelson Mandela was elected president. The three shows took place in Durban at Kings Park Stadium (8 November), Johannesburg at Ellis Park Stadium (aka Emirates Airline Park) (12 November) and Cape Town at Green Point Stadium (19 November). bringing together a total of 200,000 more participants. At the time, a portion of the proceeds from the three shows benefited various local South African children's charities through the Houston foundation.

I really loved her,” Kalner said. “I've directed her several times, but the Durban show was pure magic and the best performance I've ever seen. So excited that people can finally experience this special, special night.”
In addition to the previously unreleased “Love Is,” the live album also features unforgettable hits from the six-time Grammy winner, including “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “How Will I Know,” “I Have Nothing” “, “The greatest love of all” and “I will always love you”. Classics like “Amazing Grace” and “Home” round out the selections. The album is available for pre-order on both CD and vinyl here.
