William Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain joins Kyle Meredith to talk about the band's new LP. Glasgow eyes. Listen to the new episode above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Glasgow eyes It comes as the band celebrates its 40th anniversary, although that wasn't always the plan. As Reid recalls, the album was delayed after the engineer lost all the original recordings, leading The Jesus and Mary Chain to have to start from scratch.
“I won't forgive the engineers,” Reid says, laughing. “Nowadays, not backing up digital recordings is a damn sensible thing to do. I thought it was impossible to lose anything nowadays, because you have so many hard drives that you can store things on. In the old days, maybe 25 years ago, in Pro Tools, maybe that could happen. But in 2020 or whatever, I feel like it's almost sabotage or extreme stupidity.”
