An excerpt from a witness statement is making the X rounds. While under consideration On Thursday (June 6) by Atlanta state prosecutors during the YSL RICO trial, former Hertz rental car employee Ira Singleton was questioned about a 2014 Infiniti Q50 Young Thug (real name Jeffrey Williams) allegedly was used to kill “rival gang member” Donovan Thomas Jr.
During cross-examination by Thug's attorney, Keith Adams, Singleton was asked if he knew the rapper. “Personally? No,” Singleton replied. “Wait, hold on. Can I come back? … I didn't know Jeffrey Williams by that name. I knew Young Thug, yeah.”
When asked if he ever met Thug in person, Singleton again said no, but mentioned that he was familiar with his work. “Lifestyle had just dropped. Everyone knew this song. Banger,” he said, referring to Rich Gang's 2014 hit with Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan.
A similar situation occurred last month when former Atlanta police investigator Tyrone Dennis was being investigated by Adams. On May 8prosecutors played Thug's 2015 song “Halftime” in an attempt to link the rapper's lyrics to his gangs.
With the song playing in the courtroom, Adams asked Dennis if he was paying attention to the song's lyrics. Dennis had a hilarious response. “I knew the lyrics myself,” he replied while laughing. “I was actually singing along. I was.”
