Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators concluded their UK and European tour in Paris on Monday (April 29) bringing Wolfgang Van Halen on stage for a rousing version of the AC/DC classic “Highway to Hell.” Wolfgang's band, Mammoth WVH, served as the opening act throughout the month.
Kennedy introduced Wolfgang and told the crowd, “We are honored to have been able to tour with this next gentleman and his band, because I think he is one of the most talented people on the planet.”
Slash then began playing the iconic “Highway to Hell” riff, and the rest of the band and Wolfgang joined in shortly after. Bassist Todd Kearns provided lead vocals on the verses, with Kennedy and Wolfgang chiming in on the chorus. At one point, Wolfgang performed a dazzling guitar solo.
Wolfgang was returning a favor, as earlier that night, Kennedy joined Mammoth WVH on stage for a performance of the latter's “Take a Bow.”
Fans in North America will have plenty of opportunities to see Slash and Wolfgang on tour this year, albeit separately.
Slash will headline his own SERPENT traveling blues festival, which kicks off in early July (tickets available here). The outing will be in support of slash's stellar blues album, Orgy of the damnedwhich arrives on May 17.
Meanwhile, Wolfgang will continue to tour relentlessly with Mammoth WVH, kicking off a spring US headlining tour this Saturday (May 4), followed by support slots for Metallica, Foo Fighters and Creed throughout the rest of the year. . Get tickets to upcoming Mammoth WVH tour dates here.
