Xzibit seems to be teasing a return to the garage. 'What U See Is What U Get' Rapper Gives Fans His Favorite MTV Car Restoration Show Pimp My Ride Some reason to rekindle when he posted an image on Instagram on Wednesday suggesting that he will be rebooting the series.
“May 9, 2024,” he captioned the post, which featured a panoramic image of a classic cruiser with its name emblazoned on the hood in gold lettering, headlights on, illuminating the words “It's time to get back to customizing rides. ”
No additional information was available at press time about the show or where it will air.
The original — which helped make the show's title a universal shorthand for junker revival — ran on MTV for six seasons from 2004-2007. Centered on the vehicle wizards at West Coast Customs – and later Galpin Auto Sports – the show showcased the teams that transform wrecked cars into wonders on four wheels, often with outrageously unnecessary, but super cool accessories.
The comments on the post said it all, including, “I NEED A TANK AND A PS5 IN MY CAR!!!!” and “Includes a waterfall in the car, a chocolate waterfall, a chandelier, a flame exhaust, possibly a pool table and a coffin grill!”
Although he had made a few cameos in films prior to the series – including a memorable part in Eminem's 8 miles — Pimp helped X launch a career in Hollywood. In the wake of the show, she co-starred in more than a dozen films, including XXX: State of the Union, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and Malice n Wonderland as well as a run as rapper Shyne in musical drama series Empire.
