Kendrick Lamar had rival LA gangs on stage with him at The Pop Out concert in June, and YG looks set to continue spreading the same message of unity across California.
YG spent his Sunday (August 18) brokering the start of a truce between rival gangs Treetop Pirus and Fruit Town Pirus as his members joined in solidarity for a peaceful walk through Compton.
Hundreds of community members showed support with Compton natives like The Game and Wallie the Sensei arriving at Gonzales Park.
“This one,” Game said at the event wearing a red Givenchy T-shirt. “For me, this doesn't bring tears to my eyes my friend. To see so red and s–t. Westside Bompton, n—a, each hood. All good. There are no bulls. No one feels tension. That does not make one happy. That does it for me. I don't know what he's doing to you.”
YG added: “It's a good day – it's a good day in Bompton right now!”
A the fan applauded the truce in X: “N—- they don't know how important this is, Frootz\Treez two hoods who were always locked in a brotherhood until 2003/2004 then shit went left. together.”
After releasing the first installments in 2011 and 2013, YG returned over a decade later with his project Re'd Up 3 on Friday (August 16). The album features a double disc packed with 19 tracks featuring friends like Ty Dolla $ign, Saweetie, Lil Yachty, Mozzy, Larry June, Babyface Ray and frequent collaborator Mustard.
The 34-year-old's latest solo album, I have issuespeaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200. He also collaborated with Tyga on their Hit Me When U Leave the Klub: The Playlist joint effort in 2023.
