YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been arrested on drug and weapons charges, as well as identity fraud and forgery.
The rapper (born Kentrell Gaulden) was charged with six counts in Utah on Tuesday (April 16), according to police records. In addition to possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, Gaulden has been charged with obtaining or attempting to obtain drugs, possession of a controlled substance, identity fraud, forgery and a pattern of unlawful activity.
Both the weapon charge and the pattern of illegal activity are Class 2 felonies. No bond has been set.
For the past several years, Gaulden has been under house arrest in Utah while awaiting trial on separate firearms charges. A federal grand jury indicted the artist in March 2021 on drug and weapons charges related to her arrest in September 2020.
After spending seven months in a Louisiana jail, Gaulden was released to serve his pretrial house arrest in Utah. In December, a federal judge relaxed the terms of Gaulden's house arrest so he could receive mental health treatment.
Initially scheduled to begin in July, Gaulden's trial was put on hold last month pending a Supreme Court ruling on a potentially relevant Second Amendment case that will decide whether a federal ban on gun ownership for people with warrants domestic violence restraint is unconstitutional.
Gaulden's criminal record begins with his arrest in November 2016 on two counts of attempted murder related to a non-fatal shooting incident. After pleading guilty in 2017 to a reduced charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, he was sentenced to 10 years in suspended prison and three years of active probation.
In 2022, Gaulden was acquitted of serious weapons charges related to a 2021 incident in Los Angeles.
Last month, YoungBoy Never Broke Again released a compilation album, Congratulations from Grave Digger Mountainvia his own Never Broke Again/Motown Records.
