Zach Bryan knows very well that he made a mistake and he admits it. The country star shared a lengthy explanation and apology on Thursday (September 19) after tweeting “eagles > chieftains / Kanye > taylor” two days earlier, then asking followers “who's with me.”
“For the record guys, I wasn't coming for Taylor last night,” she wrote in one Instagram Stories paired with pop superstar Post Malone's Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Fortnight”. “I drunkenly compared two records and it came out wrong. I know there's a lot going on around Ye and I was talking purely musically. I love Taylor's music and I pray you know I'm human and I tweet stupid things. I hope one day I can explain that to her.”
The country singer – who has since deactivated his X account – went on to explain that he is having trouble on the social media platform too much and will stay away from it. “I'm sorry to Taylor's fans that I angered or disappointed.” he added.
In a second story with “The Albatross,” the “I Remember Everything” singer explained that he's going through tough times and shared his appreciation for the 14-time Grammy winner. “To be perfectly honest, it was just rude and insensitive to Taylor. I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is for people to think that I don't appreciate and love what she's done as a musician,” he wrote, before offering a public service announcement. “I love you guys and I hope you understand. Don't drink and don't tweet. Don't drink and don't tweet!'
But it didn't end there. The country star continued to express his love for Swift in a third story. “Taylor has been a force of nature for as long as we've all been growing up and I admire that,” Brian wrote in part. “I never want people to think I have a hint of malice or malice towards anyone, ever, which is why I'm saying all this.”
Bryan, who won a Grammy for Best Country/Duo Performance for the Hot 100 Hit “I Remember Everything,” continued to open up about the tough times he's been through in a fourth story. “This year has been awful for me in personal ways that no one knows and I'm trying to deal with and balance too many things at once,” she explained. “So I'm going to take a break from tweeting stupid stuff, finish my tour and somehow land in the middle of it all. I feel very, very blessed every day.”
Bulletin board Swift's representative has been contacted for comment.
The pop superstar and Ye have had a lot of bad blood dating back to the 2009 VMAs, when the rapper grabbed the microphone from Swift as she was accepting the award for Best Female Video and delivered her infamous “Imma let you finish” speech. Then there was the controversial rapper's “Famous” verse — who in recent years has faced increasing criticism for his hate speech — calling the “Anti-Hero” singer a “bh” that included what Swift in 2023 called ” frame job” phone call from her who allegedly approved the verse and more.
Bryan is set to perform at the Bourbon & Beyond music festival in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday (September 21). The Quittin Time tour then continues on November 17th in Canada, before returning to the US for a run of shows starting on November 22nd in Tacoma, Wash.
