Every year, hundreds of thousands plan their escapes to the illusory grounds of EDC Las Vegas. And every year the return home becomes sadder and sadder.
It's now the dreaded Post-EDC Monday, which means the epic weekend blues are setting in, especially in that brutal morning traffic on southbound I-15. But obviously it's all worth it.
Another bioluminescent dreamscape unfolded over the weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, thanks to Insomniac Events. EDC continued to remain at the forefront of festival culture in 2024, a year that came with the familiar thrills and jaw-dropping surprises expected at one of the world's best electronic dance music festivals.
Insomniac not only recaptured its bold creative energy within the neon-drenched grounds of the Speedway, but also ascended to new heights on its stages, which served as technological tinderboxes. Igniting a bright future in stage design, the production at kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS and the other EDC stages looked like something out of a storybook.
The FOMO was real, and so were its consequences. For those who couldn't attend this year's monumental festival, here are 10 things you missed at EDC Las Vegas.
Fred again… surprises the EDC audience with a surprise set
An unannounced “special guest” on Saturday's GROUNDS circuit lineup started out as an afterthought, but quickly exploded into the social media realm when Fred again…revealed that he was in Las Vegas. Considering he was sandwiched in the schedule by Four Tet's performance, fans naturally thought the two would reunite with Skrillex for another historic b3b set.
Unfortunately, Fred eventually went solo. But who is complaining?

DJ Snake called Tomorrowland
DJ Snake bared his fangs on the kineticFIELD stage on Saturday night, when he took the microphone to diss Tomorrowland seemingly without provocation. “EDC is much better than Tomorrowland,” he said. “Really. Fuck Tomorrowland.”
The jibe has baffled fans, but many on social media have speculated it is due to the Tomorrowland crowd's lukewarm response to dubstep and bass music. Snake took his disdain a step further after his performance by doubling down on his bet. xwhere he wrote, “EDC VEGAS > TOMORROWLAND.”

Love was in the air and on the main stage.
Proposals are common in EDC, where euphoria is the mother tongue. A particularly painful one occurred this year during a performance at kineticFIELD by electronic music icon Benny Benassi, who invited a man to pop the question to his girlfriend on stage while his love song “Cinema” played.
