The tool took 13 years to follow up on the 2006 one 10,000 days with 2019 Inoculum of fearbut bassist Justin Chancellor assures fans that the next album won't be that long.

The bassist went on to mention his MTVoid side project with vocalist Peter Mohamed, saying, “Maybe taking a leaf from how Peter and I worked with MTVoid, instead of staring at each other and saying 'Come on, get it out of you.' Maybe we could do a little more at home. We'll see.”
Tool is currently wrapping up a winter US tour (tickets available here), followed by a European tour from late May to late June, but Chancellor says the band already has a head start on new material. “We did some work before this tour,” he continued. “We tried it for a couple of months. We ended up collecting all the ideas we had; Normally when we do that, we start writing shortly after, but we had a lot going on, so we didn't fully dive in. When we're done with Europe, we'll dive back in for the second half of the year.”

It's been almost five years since the release of Inoculum of fear, and another eight years would put Carey at 70 years old. Singer Maynard James Keenan will turn 60 in April, a milestone he will celebrate with the “Sessanta” tour, in which his bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer will share the stage with Primus this spring.
