The 2024 Oscars is something of a homecoming for Becky G. The event, hosted at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, is not far from where she was born and raised in Inglewood, California. The Mexican-American singer-songwriter celebrated her home and heritage with a powerful rendition of “The Fire Inside” from the film Flamin' Hot. He performed the piece in front of the burning flames with the help of a Latino children's choir.
“The Fire Inside” is nominated for Best Original Song at this year's ceremony. “This movie, this team, this song represents something in my heart,” Becky said when the nomination was first revealed. “It is my heart. This is literally one of my dreams come true in front of the world so I just wanted to share it with you and say thank you. Thanks.”

Becky G's Mexican-American heritage has been woven into the core of her musical existence more and more as she develops her craft. For 20 minutes of his Coachella 2023 set, he welcomed guest appearances by artists in the regional Mexican space, including Peso Pluma, JOP and Marca MP.
“Dedicating 20 minutes of my set to just that is because our music and culture is something I'm so inspired by,” Becky G said.
