Pedro Capó and Carin León dropped their first collaborative effort called “Existo” – the song they created in just 30 minutes at Billboard Latin Music Week 2023 and which Advertising sign can premiere exclusively on Friday (March 15).
A catchy track that opens with country-tinged guitar riffs and transitions into midtempo cumbia, “Existo” is about the resilience and empowerment of people in the midst of adversity. The lyrics are based on the real experiences of both singers: “How can I not be successful if I exist?” they sing passionately.
“This project goes beyond music. it's a testament to the strength we all have within us,” Capó expressed in a press statement. “Existo” is a reminder that our existence is strong, even in the most difficult times and I think the best proof is the way this song came about.”
The sepia-toned music video features the Puerto Rican and Mexican actors performing the song in a recording studio, alongside a group of talented musicians.
“Existo” was first created five months ago during the “Making the Hit, Live!” panel at Billboard Latin Music Week 2023 on Oct. 3, where in front of an audience, Capó and León brainstormed its melody and lyrics.
“How do you compose a hit? With God's blessing,” Capó said during the session. “Many associate it with success. For us it means something different. I feel that the definition of success is very personal and very individual. You have to connect with heart problems to get it off your chest,” added León.
“Existo” is the second song to live after its production at Billboard Latin Music Week. Last summer, Ovy on the Drums and Blessd delivered their edgy reggaeton with the aptly titled 'Billboard', which they created from the ground up on 'Making the Hit, Live!' of 2022. table.
