Lynn, MA emcee/producer Estee Nack joins forces with Toronto producer Futurewave for the studio's 11th full-length LP. Emerging as a member of Tragic Allies, he also single-handedly completed my senior year of high school from his self-produced solo debut Purpose 14 Forms: The Book of Estee Nack & has since built a long but impressive discography for himself. Other highlights include the production of Sadhugold Surfinongold.wav along with its continuation The Order of the Golden Fleecethe Giallo Point production Papitashis collaborative efforts with al.divino, V Don's production BRAP (Born Rewards & Penalties)the Griselda Records debut Nightsaw Jim Duggan & produced by Mike Shabb Live in the Tabernackle. So considering the high quality of these last two efforts, Pyrex Stone Temple it had to be just as great.
“Sunday Service” kicks off by fusing jazz and boom bap talking about getting rich every Sunday, while “Subtracktion” gets more somber instrumentally to say that right now is a great time to have a great time. “Glaciusvsfulgore” featuring Rome Streetz brings in 2 Griselda signees likening themselves to Killer Instinct's eponymous characters with a Daringer-esque beat, but then “Oscardelarenta” sticks in a weird kick-and-snare loop that they never talk about doubting himself.
On the other hand, “&Bondizlyfe” doesn't sound like they're dissecting the hustler lifestyle leading up to “Blockwarz” with Daniel Son talking about the top spot being theirs forever over a red-hot boom bam instrumental. “Weirdscience” flips another eerie sample so Estee can chase away all the power-hungry weaklings just before “Datewifdef” talks about math being the foundation for keeping them sonic in the basement.
“Cornchowder” featuring Raz Fresco incorporates a jazzy loop that refers to their minds as weapons and they let it tighten while “Wavydominicans” showcase ??? & BoriRock finds the trio speaking of an ominous presence over somber piano chords. “Eddiebernays” featuring al.divino strips down the drums once again making this shit complete while the last song “¡Sorpresa!” Excluding the 'Ogoscardelarenta' remix aggressively suggests checking sign language.
This coming weekend will mark a full year since then BRAP (Born Rewards & Penalties) is out and Nackman has already blessed us with his 3rd classic in a span of 365 days. The guest list is shorter than Live in the TabernackleIt was, Futurewave's production is mostly based on the traditional boom bap sound with jazz and drumless tones mixed in and my favorite member of Tragic Allies picks up lyrically where he left off 6 months ago.
