Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Stevens and Billy Morrison team up on the new song “Crack Cocaine” from the latter's upcoming album. The Morrision project. The single is available now, along with a music video starring Paris Jackson.
Morrison, rhythm guitarist for Billy Idol's band and former bassist for The Cult, previously premiered the video for the album's lead single, “Drowning,” right here on Strong consequences. Their guest-heavy LP also includes contributions from Idol, Corey Taylor, Al Jourgensen, John 5, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Linda Perry, among others.
Morrison and fellow Billy Idol guitarist Stevens trade licks on “Crack Cocaine” as Ozzy offers his haunting vocals on lines like: “Loving you is driving me crazy/I leave you and pick you up again… like crack.”
“The music was a direct result of sitting in a room with Steve, both of us with out-of-tune guitars, and writing what we felt was the definitive Ozzy riff,” Morrison said of the song. “From there, we brought in Ozzy and we all sat down to work on the lyrics, but 90% of them came from Ozzy himself. He was the one who suddenly stood up and sang 'Like Crack Cocaine'!! We looked at each other and knew we had the title!!
The music video shows Morrison and Stevens performing the song in a graffiti-filled industrial setting, interspersed with clips of Ozzy sitting down singing the song. Additionally, Paris Jackson plays a young woman who fights demons in a series of scenes filmed in black and white.
“Paris was so kind to even agree to do the video,” Morrison said. “We wanted someone to play the woman Ozzy sings about and we had a mutual friend who facilitated the introduction. I was honest with her and told her that we were doing everything at home, that there wasn't a big budget for a record company and that luckily she is a big rock fan and wanted to be a part of it. “She brought the sense of glamor and beauty to the video that we wanted.”
The song marks the first new music featuring Ozzy's vocals since the metal icon's 2022 album. Patient number 9. Check our Consequence Cover story with Ozzy talking about that album and more.
Fans can see Morrison and Stevens on stage when Billy Idol goes on tour across the US in May. Tickets for those shows are available here.
