Apple TV+ has shared the first trailer for the upcoming series Presumed innocentstarring Jake Gyllenhaal and produced by JJ Abrams.
Premieres June 12 Presumed innocent is an eight-part limited series based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow (which was also the basis of the 1990 film, Presumed innocent, starring Harrison Ford). Gyllenhaal will play Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor turned suspect whose extramarital love interest has been murdered.
Gyllenhaal's Sabich opens the trailer by saying “Love isn't what people say it is,” before revealing that his attraction to fellow prosecutor Carolyn “sparked something inside me.” Tense music then plays over scenes of sex and suspense, leading to a straight shot of Gyllenhaal's distraught face as he is asked if he is “aware that Carolyn has been murdered” and can't find an answer. The first two episodes of Presumed innocent It will arrive on June 12 through Apple TV+. After that, a new episode will be released weekly on Wednesdays. The finale will air on July 24. New Apple TV+ subscribers can sign up for a free seven-day trial here.
Beyond Gyllenhaal, the show's cast will feature Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, OT Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Elizabeth Marvel, Nana Mensah, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard and Kingston Rumi Southwick. The show comes from Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with Gyllenhaal, Abrams, Turow and more getting executive producer credits.
Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal recently starred in the remake of road houseand is reportedly on the short list of desired actors for the second season of the Netflix series. Beef.
As for Abrams, he's currently working on an “emotional, strong, gritty” film adaptation of Hot Wheels.
