Future is having a banner year and has no plans of slowing down. The Atlanta rapper took to X early Wednesday (May 8) to announce that Mixtape Pluto is back and that he'll be dropping something on Friday, May 10.
Both of Future's recent albums with producer Metro Boomin hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and their song “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which started the biggest rap battle in decades, reached No. 1 on Hot 100. is his first mixtape since 2018 World on Drugs featuring the late Juice Wrld and his first solo tape since 2016 Purple Reign.
Future and Metro dropped the Rap Game Sinister Six that seemingly took down Drake, with Kendrick Lamar getting the job done over the weekend (for now, at least). There's no word if this mixtape will continue Drake's onslaught, but the Canadian rapper mentioned Future's name on his “Family Matters” record, saying, “Pluto doesn't make me sick to my stomach, we never really were through this.”
There is some speculation, however, that Future is releasing this tape to compete with Gunna's new album, One from Wun, drops on the same day, and Gunna might feel the same way. The Atlanta rapper appears to have responded to Future on X.
The rap beef seems to be in the air, which is great while it stays on the wax. Competition is healthy for the game. Many fans at X, however, are torn on having to pick a side if this beef is indeed real. See what others have said below.
