Cher has warned she will speak her mind when she is indicted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
The music legend has been churning out hits for almost 60 years and will be welcomed into the music museum’s Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, in October.
The appointment has been a long time coming, and Cher has hinted she will vent off over the delay to her induction when she appears at the 2024 ceremony.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight this week, the Believe singer said, “I’m going to have some words to say. I’m going to accept it as me.”
She credited music contemporaries for helping her land the induction, explaining, “I can thank (record executive) David Geffen, my friend and most wonderful person ever, and (Thin Lizzy guitarist) John Sikes.”
Last December, Cher lashed out at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for failing to acknowledge her career and achievements.
Venting on The Kelly Clarkson show at the time, she seethed, “You know what? I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you… They can just go you-know-what themselves… I changed music forever with Believe.”
She was then nominated for inclusion four months later.
Cher is in good company for the 2024 ceremony as a host of other major stars will be included.
Singer Mary J. Blige, the bands Dave Matthews Band, Kool & the Gang, and Foreigner, hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest, musician Peter Frampton, and Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne will all also be honoured at the event due to be held on Saturday 19 October.
