On Tuesday night (May 16), Lainey Wilson kicked off what host Reba McEntire would later call “country music's party of the year” with her opening performance at the 2024 ACM Awards.
Advertising signThe recent cover star kicked off her appearance with a “What's up, Texas?” greeting the crowd at The Star in Frisco, Texas, before launching into a fun rendition of Little Texas' '90s country staple “God Blessed Texas.” She wore a red leather bodysuit and a large red cowboy hat for the performance, before handing it to an excited fan in the audience.
Wilson didn't stop there, however, as she then transitioned into a performance of her own new song: “Hang Tight Honey,” the lead single from her recently announced upcoming Tornado series. The rave-up sounded fantastic on its live debut, with Wilson rocking an acoustic guitar in front of a lonely backdrop, hitting a fever pitch at its climax.headed straight HOOOOOOOME” Choir delivery.
In addition to being a featured performer, Wilson has four nominations at this year's ACM Awards: Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (for “Heart Like a Truck”) and Event of the Year (for her Jelly Collaboration Roll “Save Me”). Her latest single, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”, reached No. 5 on the Advertising signThe Country Airplay chart at the beginning of the month.
