As the crisis in Gaza continues to escalate violently, Kehlani took to Instagram to urge her peers not to speak out.
In a clip released Monday, the “Distraction” singer scorned her “highly fanatical” peers in the music industry for not speaking out about the Israel-Hamas war. “And can't you just stop for a second and recognize that… none of us have a purpose without people and can't you turn the dial and reach out to people? You can not speak; Disgusting,” he says in the clip.
Kehlani noted that they've lost “every ounce of respect” for those who haven't spoken out. “This will go down in the history books. … This is going to be something that will be mentioned for the rest of f—ing forever.”
“Wh— you too,” Kehlani concluded.
In the caption, the star expanded on their thoughts. “I don't get it anymore, I just haven't tried ways to cope and it doesn't exist and that's ok, no one should know how to deal with it right now,” she wrote. “I've been trying to put on some music and come back to my senses, my focus is back and the rage is just EXTREMELY prevalent. this sh– is f—ing me up BEEN f—ing me up it should be f—ing all up a lot but apparently it isn't??? what's good??? we don't sell out shows without a packed crowd. songs don't chart without PEOPLE. trends don't trend without PEOPLE. you don't draw a line at decapitated babies or people being burned alive after 7 months of many other atrocities? idc about the development of the formula the strategy the algorithm at this point please U TO BEOPLE. BE AF—TO HUMAN.”
