There's just no telling how far Moana 2 it will go, but based on the success of the film's new trailer, it will go far. In just 24 hours, the first look at the highly-anticipated sequel became Disney's most popular teaser ever for an animated film, garnering 178 million views across all platforms since it went live on Wednesday (May 29).
According Deadlinegames are counted on TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. Moana 2Its number of views is reportedly surpassing the high numbers amassed by the previous record holders Inside Out 2 (157 million) and Frozen 2 (116 million).
Hitting theaters on November 27, the film will see Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their respective roles as Moana and Maui. In the sequel's two-minute trailer, the eponymous character embarks on a journey across the seas after receiving a spiritual hint. While sailing the ocean, he once again encounters the muscular demigod The Rock.
“This is a call from the ancestors to sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the ocean,” Cravalho says in a voiceover.
Moana 2 was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino. It will feature music from collaborators Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear as well as Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina.
The original film's soundtrack was produced by Encanto composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed the Billboard Hot 100 hits “How Far I'll Go” and “You're Welcome.” In August 2021 it passed Frosted to become the longest-running No. 1 Advertising sign's Map Soundtracks at 52 weeks.
