Austin Rivers isn't happy with Hulu's original series Cut or the casting choices for the roles of members of the Los Angeles Clippers during Donald Sterling's tenure as owner.
In a recent episode of The Offguard Podcastformer NBA player turned ESPN NBA Analyst Expresses Disappointment With Actors Cast To Play His NBA Brothers Cut.
The Hulu series is based on ESPN 30 for 30 podcasts, The sterling affairs, which centers on the uproar after the former Clippers owner was recorded by his mistress making derogatory racial remarks.
In a clip shared on Instagram, Rivers casts actor to play Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry: “This is Steven Santiago. He's, like, the third baseman for the Padres. Who the hell is this guy?'
The actor who plays Blake Griffin on the show also caught a vicious fling from Rivers. “This is really bad. The man's hairline has already receded and he doesn't look like Blake at all.”
P-Valley Starring J. Alphonse Nicholson's portrayal of the “point god,” Chris Paul, didn't win over Rivers either. “This is my local air conditioning, Frederick. Who is this? Who the hell is he?'
Damn, that's what you do, the man who plays Lil Murda to perfection?
Austin Rivers Parts Laurence Fishburne
Not even Sheldon Bailey, who plays DeAndre Jordan in the series, was spared Rivers' wrath. “There is no effort in it. It's nothing like a DJ.”
One person who didn't get as much flak for his performance on the show, aside from his body weight, was Laurence Fishburne. He happens to play Austin Rivers' dad, Doc Rivers, who was the Clippers coach during the Donald Sterling drama.
“Laurence Fishburne is a legend and he's a great actor,” Rivers said. “My father's body is a little different. I'm not saying he's 100% fit, but he's a bit different from Laurence Fishburne. We could have done some artificial intelligence or something there.”
Fishburne talked about playing Doc Rivers on a recent episode of The Dan Patrick Show revealing that he had no idea who Rivers was before taking on the role.
Luke James Dunks On Austin Rivers
One person who wasn't here for the Austin Rivers hate was singer/actor Luke James, who had time for the former pro hooper.
“The series is great. the casting is solid. u niggas need to make a row. drop all the giant no ass niggas on it. see how it turns out. I'm sure all those people who agree will love it,” James wrote in the comments section of the post.
We can't be mad about it.
