Tommy Richman's follow-up to his “Million Dollar Baby” single is here. The Virginia crooner released his new song “Devil Is a Lie” along with the video at midnight on Friday (June 14), and it looks like the kid is two for two. He feels the same way, because he responded to a now-deleted tweet calling him a one-hit wonder with “2 for 2.”
Funkmaster Flex is also a fan of the new song.
The Hot 97 DJ notified the Tri-State area that he was playing Richman's new song and reported that he liked it. He said earlier this week the singer's name “sounds like a shoe store” and that “Million Dollar Baby” was “hot garbage” in a classic Funk Flex rant during his time.
The “Devil Is a Lie” video has the same camcorder aesthetic as “Million Dollar Baby,” but this time Richman is all business. He sings “I work too hard, can you f–kin' pay me” while touring a strip mall and busts it out in a photo shoot with a blue-striped 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville lowrider, courtesy of Diplomatics Car Club.
Tommy Richman's single “Million Dollar Baby” debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 when it dropped in late April, and is currently at No. 3. The song has been on the chart for six weeks. We will have to see if he can recreate that massive hit with this single. The video is performing well on YouTube, sitting at No. 8 and with around 180,000 views and counting.
