Perrie Edwards has discussed a new song that she has written that Little Mix fans are convinced is about Jesy Nelson.
The 30-year-old singer has branched out into the world of solo music this year following the decision of her band to go on hiatus, and a debut album is set to be released soon.
Teasing details about one song fans will hear on the record, Perrie explained she took inspiration from the explosive end of a friendship – and the star famously fell out with former Little Mix co-star Jesy after she quit the group in December 2020.
Teasing the track, Perrie told The Zach Sang Show in the US, “There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song – I can’t even listen to it without crying. It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song.
“We don’t talk any more. They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up.”
The singer was then asked if she thinks she can ever repair her friendship with her former friend, but she answered, “I’m open to it. I don’t know if they would be after they hear the song.”
After quitting Little Mix at the end of 2020, Jesy, 33, clashed with her former bandmates while attempting to launch a solo career of her own.
The singer and the former band, who have been on hiatus since 2022, have taken shots at each in lyrics since Jesy left, with the 2021 song Cut You Off, for example, seemingly aimed at Jesy after her departure.
