With his country spin in full swing, Machine Gun Kelly has released a cover of The Chicks’ “There’s Your Trouble” for the Spotify Singles series. Listen to it below.
The rapper-turned-pop-punk singer previously performed the cover during his CMA Fest set at Spotify House in June, when he also brought out Jelly Roll to play the latter's hit, “Need a Favor.”
Much like his recent cover of Zach Bryan's “Sun to Me,” mgk's rendition of “There's Your Trouble” proves he's capable at karaoke, but does nothing to add to the original.
Still, mgk’s country push has continued. In late July, he reunited with Jelly Roll for his new single, “Lonely Road,” which features a lackluster reimagining of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” As our own Mary Siroky wrote of the collaboration, “It takes more than a zip code to feel at home in country music.”
In 1998, The Chicks released “There's Your Trouble” as the second single from Wide open spaces. He surpassed the Billboard It entered the Hot Country Songs chart and landed in the Top 40 of the Hot 100.
The country group's last album was their comeback in 2020. Gas lighterone of the best albums released that year.
