The former Oasis frontman first teased the idea of the pair working together last June when he brought the former Stone Roses guitarist out for his Knebworth shows to perform Oasis' 1995 classic 'Champagne Supernova'. “Super group incoming LG JS,” read one of Gallagher's tweets at the time.
Last September, speaking in an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, Gallagher confirmed that the pair would “definitely” be working together. In response to Wilkinson's request for an update, Gallagher said: “Yes. Serious man. But we have things to do first, and he has things to clear up, too. But yes, I will definitely do summat at some point.”
In October, Gallagher took to his X/Twitter account and teased that the pair's joint LP will be “the best record since 'Revolver'”, claiming the album will be better than the Beatles' seventh LP.
Another fan responded to Gallagher's tweet calling it a “big statement” to which the singer replied: “What's coming your way is bigger, I'm humbled and angry all over the place.”
Today (December 18), the 'Better Days' singer posted a video clip of Squire playing guitar over the years as well as joining Oasis on stage. In his audio clip, Gallagher can be heard saying: “John Squire is without a doubt the best guitarist of his generation and in the world in my opinion.”
The singer also shared the link to gallaghersquire.com on his Instagram bio. The site's landing page features their names at the top and gives fans the chance to sign up for their mailing list to receive more information.
There is no official release date or announcement for the joint LP yet.
