This is the 6th EP from Brockton, Massachusetts emcee Madd Maxxx. A member of the collective Mission: Infect, he has also released a few full-lengths along with a mixtape and his previous 5 EPs on his own, with the latest LP being his 3rd album, albeit his Dirtcore Music debut. Kaleidoscope he becomes the strongest body of work he has ever done so far and returns on the day of his birth again condensed Dirtcore 24 in a 5 track 12 and a half minute offering that precedes a future full length sometime in the future I guess.
After the introduction of “Keep It Dirtcore,” the J. Reno-produced first song “Terrifying” kicks off the EP's shoot for a trap vibe by instrumentally telling us why his shit is cold while “Diary of a Madd Man” transitions into boom bap strip. targeting any juggalo rapper who thinks they can body him when he's right. “Shinobi Stance” works in some synths as well as kicks & snares from Dirtcore Music founder Crossworm, continuing to deliver hard hitting lyricism, while closer “Rat Race” talks hard about Dirtcore being the leaders of the pack of hip hop zombies.
M: I just posted their great comeback EP armM: Igeddon earlier this spring and not only is it my favorite Maxxx' EP, but I'll argue that it's right behind last year's Kaleidoscope as the 2 go-tos if you're into Madd Maxxx's solo work. Crossworm & J. Reno both kill their respective stocks Dirtcore 24His production & Maxxx avoids having any guests with him so he can hold his own on the lyrical side of things, which he excels at. I'm more interested in Mission: Infect member Mumm Ra's upcoming album, though the Dirtcore Music debut Autogod in a few weeks.
