Maroon 5 and Cardi B's 2018 cameo-filled video for 'Girls Like You (vol. 2)' has reached one billion views on YouTube. The female empowerment anthem and fifth single from the band's 2017 fifth album Red Pill Bluesreceived a bonus audio version in May 2018 with Cardi half-hearing for a verse about her rise from stripper to top rap superstar.
The climb to the billie club for Vol. 2 version of the song marks the fifth time that both M5 and Cardi have had billion music video views on YouTube.
THE original video for the Billboard Music Award-winning song – which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and 33 weeks in the top 10 – has amassed more than 3.6 billion views to date. This David Dobkin-directed clip found the camera hovering in a circle around M5 singer Adam Levine as an array of famous singers, comedians, athletes, activists, politicians, actors and models materialized behind the singer and danced along with the strong pop melody.
Among the stars who appeared were: Camilla Cabello, Phoebe Robinson, Aly Raisman, Sarah Silverman, Gal Gadot, Lilly Singh, Amani al-Khatahtbeh, Trace Lysette, Tiffany Haddish, Angy Rivera, Franchesca Ramsey, Millie Bobby Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Chloe Kim, Alex Morgan, Mary J. Feldie, Mary J. Bligee , Fielder, Danica Patrick, Ilhan Omar, Elizabeth Banks, Ashley Graham and Rita Ora, as well as Levine's wife, model Behati Prinsloo, and their daughter, Dusty Rose.
In addition to dancing and lip-syncing to the tune, some women in clip rock are sending out t-shirts with pointed social messages, including immigration activist Rivera's “Unocumented Unafraid Unapologetic” as well as American athlete Raisman You Truth's “Always Speak” ” activist Fielder “Divest, Water Is Life” shirt and top.
