A new box set, from Group Numerowill compile the complete Boilermaker discography. The 4xLP set, Not enough time to finish anything halfwaycombines the San Diego emo and post-hardcore band's three albums with singles and rarities, plus a picture book featuring interviews with the trio's two surviving members, as well as members of Drive Like Jehu, Pinback, Braid, Boys Life and more. (Pitchfork's Nina Corcoran wrote the liner notes.) Listen to “Slow Down” ahead of the compilation's January 24 release.
Not enough time to finish something halfway includes his 1994 debut Boilermaker, stream; of 1996 In Wallace's Shadow; and their last album, a self-titled 1998 record — all three of which are long out of print and hard to find. While most of the singles were collected on a bonus LP for the box set, there is also a 7″ featuring “Whitewash” and “Cruel Heart”, two bonus songs from the Boilermakers that were included on their 2001 compilation Lefkadia.
Boilermaker rose to prominence in the mid-1990s in California, led by singer and bassist Terrin Durfey, with drummer Tim Semple and guitarist Richard Sanderson. During their run, they developed a cult following and influenced other bands on the scene, such as Jimmy Eat World and Boys Life, but never found success on the same level as those peers. The trio eventually broke up in 2002, branching out into bands such as Earthless and Jade Shader, before Durfey's death from skin cancer in 2008.
