“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” may still be high on the Billboard Hot 100, but Shaboozey has more “Good News” to share.
On Friday (November 15), the country star released “Good News,” his first new single since releasing Bulletin board top map Where I've been is not where I'm going LP. Reuniting with longtime collaborators Nevin Sastry and Sean Cook, Shaboozey uses his next single to explore how good news can overturn even the darkest sorrows. “I need some good news/ I'm sitting here sucking the cold truth/ Nobody knows what I'm going through/ Bet the devil won't walk in my shoes,” he wails over soft acoustic guitar, plaintive violin and a healthy dose of steel guitar pedal.
2024 was a life-changing year for Shaboozey, who hails from just outside of Woodbridge, Va. At the top of the year, he was featured on a pair of songs on BeyoncéThe Billboard 200-top Cowboy Carter albums: “Sweet * Honey * Buckiin'” (No. 61) and “Spaghettii” (No. 31, featuring Linda Martell), which earned a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best Rap Melodic Performance. In addition to this nod, Shaboozey received four other nominations. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is up for Song of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, while Shaboozey himself picked up a bid for Best New Artist.
“Tipsy” was one of several singles from Where I've beenwhich reached No. 1 of Popular Albums and Independent Albums. On the Billboard 200, the record peaked at No. 5.
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has spent 17 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, making it the longest-running solo No. 1 in the ranking. Only one song stands between Shaboozey and the all-time record: Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' “Old Town Road,” which spent 19 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.
