Coldplay Rockets' 'Moon Music' at ARIA No. 1 after the sold out Australian tour

Coldplay Music of the Moon has landed at no. 1 in ARIA Albums Chart this week, rocketing from the No. 6 of last week.

It originally debuted at No. 2 upon its release in October, the album's resurgence reflects the impact of the band's Australian arm. Music of the Spheres World tour. The tour was Coldplay's first in Australia since 2016, although they played two shows in Perth in 2023 due to an exclusive deal with the state's tourism board.

This week's ARIA achievement marks the eighth No. 1 Coldplay album in Australia, a streak that began with A rush of blood to the head in 2002 and includes top charts such as X&Y, Viva La Vida or Death and all his friends, Ghost stories, Daily Lifeand Music of the Spheres.

The band's ongoing tour has been nothing short of a phenomenon. Their recent four-night run at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium from October 30 to November 3 broke attendance records for a band, with 227,000 fans flocking to the shows.

According to the venue his own storythe current record for the most attended concert is held by fellow English musician Adele, whose performance on 19 March 2017 was attended by a total of 77,327 people. Just one year later, Ed Sheeran broke the record for the largest concert series attendance by a single artist, bringing in a total audience of 257,751 over four shows in March 2018.

Elsewhere in ARIA Albums ChartPerth's South Summit made an impressive debut album The Bliss landed at no. 25, while Make Them Suffer's self-titled effort entered at No. 38.

On the Singles Chart, Gracie Abrams dethroned Rosé and Bruno Mars to claim the No. 1 for the first time with “That's So True,” while the duo's “APT.” slips to No. 2. Abrams' hit is her third chart-topping single this year, following “Close to You” (No. 34) and “I Love You, I'm Sorry” (No. 7).
